Ben Howard plus Gwenno

Saturday 30 June 2018

Back by popular demand, top singer-songwriter and BRIT Award-winner Ben Howard will play the Eden Sessions, along with his six-piece band, three years after his last sold-out performance at Eden when he was hailed as the region’s returning hero.

This will coincide with the release of A Boat To An Island On the Wall, taken from Ben’s forthcoming album Noonday Dream, to be released on 1 June 2018.

Ben grew up near Totnes in Devon. While studying in Cornwall at Falmouth University, he decided to concentrate full-time on making music, honing his craft in and around the town. In 2013, Ben won both the British Breakthrough Act and British Male Solo Artist categories at the BRIT Awards.

A Boat To An Island On The Wall is the first new music that Ben and his band have shared since the release of his number one charting second album, I Forget Where We Were, in October 2014.

The transformation and development in Ben’s writing from his hugely successful debut LP, to the immersive darkness of I Forget Where We Were, and now on the cusp of another new sonic phase in Noonday Dream, could and should cement his status as one of the UK’s most gifted and unpredictable of artists.

This Welsh singer-songwriter’s second solo album Le Kov (The Place of Memory) is written entirely in Cornish. It’s an exploration of the dream state, the myths and drolls of Cornwall, and the history of the survival of the increasingly rare language.
