Sustainability at Volvo

Sustainability at Volvo

As a mobility provider, Volvo recognises that they have been part of the problem of climate change and have a responsibility to act. Sustainability is as important to Volvo Cars as safety. By working towards climate-neutrality, embracing the circular economy and conducting their business operations responsibly, they are on a mission to help protect the planet and contribute to a fairer society. By reducing emissions across their entire value chain, they are aiming to become a climate-neutral company by 2040. As an interim step towards their 2040 target, they are aiming to reduce the lifecycle carbon footprint per vehicle by 40 per cent between 2018 and 2025.

Volvo Cars has also been recognised for its sustainability strategy by global environmental non-profit organisation CDP, securing an A-score for its actions aimed at cutting emissions, mitigating climate risks and becoming a climate-neutral company. This places Volvo Cars in the highest tier of CDP’s climate change list, together with only a small number of companies. More than 13,000 companies participated by disclosing data on their environmental impacts, risks and opportunities, and Volvo Cars’ high score reflects its position as a leader in environmental ambition and climate action.

Working with Eden

To support our partnership, Volvo Car UK has provided the Eden Project with a fleet of XC40 Recharge pure electric vehicles. By working together collaboratively, Volvo and the Eden Project hope to tackle some of the challenges and barriers consumers have around purchasing and driving electric cars and accelerate the uptake of zero emission vehicles. This fleet of cars will also be used operationally to help deliver Eden Sessions Presented by Volvo, and help reduce the carbon footprint of the concerts.
